More than just a series of meetings and technical discussions, the activities held as part of APAC Wind Energy Summit 2026 reflected a shared commitment among stakeholders to accelerate the energy transition, strengthen the industry ecosystem, and expand collaboration opportunities for Vietnam’s wind power sector.

When the Energy Transition Is No Longer a Vision for the Future
During a series of working sessions between representatives of the Global Wind Energy Council (GWEC) and leaders of the National Assembly, Government, and relevant ministries, a number of key topics were discussed. The focus extended beyond the implementation of Vietnam’s Power Development Plan VIII and the country’s net-zero emissions target by 2050, to how these commitments can be translated into practical and bankable projects.
What stood out was the emphasis on addressing challenges that businesses face on a daily basis. Discussions covered marine spatial planning, power transmission infrastructure, investment mechanisms, and the development of local supply chains—critical factors that will determine the pace of offshore wind development in Vietnam over the coming years.

Stakeholders discussed solutions to support the sustainable development of Vietnam’s offshore wind industry.
For companies actively involved in the renewable energy sector, these developments are encouraging. Long-term ambitions are important, but equally essential are clear and stable frameworks that provide investors and businesses with the confidence to develop large-scale projects with long operational lifecycles.
Offshore Wind: A Major Opportunity That Requires a Strong Ecosystem
Experience from more mature markets has shown that offshore wind is never the responsibility of a single company. It is an industry that requires close coordination among policymakers, project developers, contractors, logistics providers, operations and maintenance teams, and green finance institutions.
This is why the policy dialogues held during the first two days were more than consultation sessions. They provided a valuable platform for stakeholders to identify existing bottlenecks and explore ways to create a more transparent and stable investment environment across the entire offshore wind value chain.
Such efforts will help Vietnam make the most of its abundant wind resources, attract international investment, and gradually build a competitive offshore wind industry within the region.

Strategic dialogue sessions are helping create momentum for the growth of Vietnam’s offshore wind sector.
APAC Wind Energy Summit 2026: Where Capabilities Are Demonstrated in Practice
If the first two days focused on policy and strategic direction, APAC Wind Energy Summit 2026, held in Hanoi on June 10–11, showcased the implementation capabilities of businesses operating across the industry.
The event brought together project developers, investors, industry experts, and leading companies from across the Asia-Pacific region. Beyond providing insights into emerging market trends, it served as a valuable platform for networking, partnership development, and collaboration across the renewable energy supply chain.

APAC Wind Energy Summit 2026 brought together industry leaders, investors, and experts to strengthen collaboration across the wind energy and renewable energy value chain.
At the event, SMC presented its integrated service ecosystem for wind power projects, covering heavy and oversized transportation, lifting operations, installation, as well as operations and maintenance (O&M) services. Conversations at the booth focused less on sustainability slogans and more on practical industry challenges—how to transport turbine blades stretching tens of meters in length, how to optimize installation schedules, and how to ensure efficient project performance throughout the asset lifecycle.

SMC supports wind power projects through technical expertise and comprehensive project solutions.
These are precisely the kinds of practical solutions the wind power market needs today—solutions built on real-world project experience.
From Commitment to Action
What remained most significant after four days of activities was not the number of meetings held or visitors welcomed at the exhibition booth. Rather, it was the growing alignment among stakeholders regarding the future direction of Vietnam’s energy sector.
The energy transition will not happen overnight. However, when supportive policies are advanced, businesses continue investing in their capabilities, and partners across the value chain work together, the goal of sustainable and green energy development becomes far more achievable.

Following the summit activities, a site visit organized by PTSC on June 12 offered participants valuable insights into Vietnam’s offshore wind industry and its growing industrial capabilities.
For SMC, participating in the high-level policy dialogues and APAC Wind Energy Summit 2026 was more than an opportunity to strengthen market connections. It was also a chance to contribute practical industry expertise, demonstrate the capabilities of Vietnamese enterprises within the wind energy sector, and support the industry’s journey toward sustainable development.
Ultimately, the future of Vietnam’s wind power industry will not be defined by what we discuss today, but by what we begin to implement tomorrow.
